Originally from North of Vietnam, I’ve always dreamt of working in an international environment and learning from amazing professionals. Thanks to this programme, I am part of a big project with great colleagues from more than 50 countries.
I am really proud to be part of this massive project, working as a methods engineer alongside experienced colleagues from different backgrounds to find technical solutions for any issues that arise during construction.
Among the interesting tasks that I have had chance to deal with this year, it’s worth mentioning the lifting design of a 370-ton precast slab which was installed above walled-in tanks.
Thanks to HPC’s BIM-orientated nature, I have found it really helpful when working with interfaces of different components, and easier to recognize potential clashes during the design phase. With tight allowable tolerances, we have spent lots of effort trying to produce declash permanent works items with temporary works items that we want to install in the structure.
I am lucky to be accompanied by to 2 amazing guys throughout the journey in the UK. We’ve spent times discovering attractions during our free time, I have to say that it has been a really fruitful year. It was funny that during the trip to Stonehenge, we heard someone say “We travel all the way here just to see some stones”.
We shared not only memories but also lessons learned in the UK, which for sure will be beneficial. I also take the opportunity to introduce Vietnam traditional PHO to colleagues, and luckily they all return with positive feedback.
It was great to enjoy the atmosphere in a football stadium like Old Trafford – Manchester. On the matchday, I could see people wearing the club jersey discussing on the streets, in public transport, etc. and even during the game, the chanting never stopped. At the end, the home team won, people did not stop singing on their way back home. It was a really festivie atmosphere that one wants to enjoy at least once in a lifetime.
