This year I have supported VSL UK’s ground engineering operations as a Plant Engineer. I’ve had to learn a lot about the different machines and techniques we use to deliver our projects, as well as all the administration and management required to maintain and deploy our fleet of equipment.
Along with the work I’ve done for VSL UK, I have also been heavily involved in the procurement and deployment of an electrical diaphragm wall cutter for VSL-Intrafor Hong Kong. This machine is the first of its kind for the group and one of only a few in the world. It was rewarding working with my colleagues from UK, France and Hong Kong to ensure it can be operated safely and successfully.
I’ve tried to make the most of living in the UK and being so close to Europe, taking the opportunity to travel and explore the continent’s famous cities and sights. With my partner and friends (some of whom travlled from Australia to see us) I have visited every country in the United Kingdom, France, Belgium, Spain and Italy.
In Scotland I booked a guided fishing charter and while I didn’t manage to catch a fabled atlantic salmon I did still catch a sea trout. It was an experience I will never forget, the weather and scenery were beautiful. I’ve also seen a lot of my favourite bands (and a few new ones) play in London, I love the live music and pubs here.
