Australia to England

A Tender Submission Engineer, I was previously working in Australia. As part of my mission here, I’ve travelled in the UK to inspect bridges and discuss with clients. I love playing tennis, travelling, diving, cycling and practising yoga.

Throughout this year in London as a Tender Project Engineer, I’ve grown within a diverse team united by a common goal: identifying opportunities, presenting high-quality tenders, and facilitating their handover to the construction team. My role revolved around tendering projects in the UK within VSL UK’s business lines: Ground Engineering and Bridge Repairs. This experience offered me the chance to tackle varied tasks daily and truly understand the essence of being versatile, akin to a ‘Swiss army knife’! Moreover, it marked my transition to VSL following several years with Bouygues, allowing me to explore how this entity collaborates with technical experts and centers worldwide.

I’ve also been able to travel to different locations to visit some infrastructure, and some of the emblematic VSL and Bouygues UK projects in England. This year has proven exceptionally enriching in terms of experience, particularly with the successful bid for a project my team and I have been involved in since its inception. This project is due to commence on-site at the beginning of the upcoming year!

Living in London has been an absolute pleasure, primarily because it’s an incredible city to explore and reside in. Cycling to work became a routine, passing by iconic landmarks like Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, and the London Eye. Despite the unpredictable weather, London is undeniably fabulous, boasting a bustling nightlife that rivals its daytime energy. It’s a place where the most bizarre events occur while strolling along cobblestone streets adorned with historical monuments.

Having spent few a years in Australia, particularly during the COVID era, returning to Europe was a really nice experience, offering easy access to travel and being able to see friends and family more often. We frequently ventured from the local station to indulge in diverse experiences: searching for Nessie in Scotland, exploring the streets of Budapest, or diving into Portugal’s cold waters! Moreover, the proximity allowed for endless weekend getaways within the UK or even a hop over to nearby France.
