I enjoy contributing to both the users of our buildings and the teams that build them. I aim to explore new cultures, continue learning, stay flexible and improve my skills. Over the past seven years, I’ve expanded my knowledge of construction management and I’m excited to work on the construction of bridges in Australia.
Hello,
I’ve had a great experience working for VSL in Australia so far!
Less than two weeks before flying out, I found out the D-wall ground engineering project I was meant to join had been delayed. My partner and I arrived in Melbourne with no clear plan, but we were happy to be together. We were redirected to the Sydney Head Office, where I was assigned to the Brisbane office to help with bridge projects although the Brisbane office didn’t exist yet.
After the rocky start, I got acquainted with Australia’s fun birds and got to work plugging holes wherever the projects needed help everything from business development and innovation to logistics and equipment.
Our Brisbane office grew from two to seven people, and I spent some weeks in Western Australia and Tasmania supporting the site teams.
I’ve learned a lot about how bridges are built and about myself. I’m grateful for the experience and look forward to seeing what Australia’s summer holds (though Brisbane’s “winter” is already warm enough for me!).
