I am an engineer from the Philippines specializing in construction safety. In 2022, I joined Bouygues and was assigned to a major infrastructure project in the Philippines, where I gained invaluable experience that significantly contributed to my career growth and professional development.
Through the Bridges Programme, I was given the opportunity to expand my professional horizons. I’m now based in the United Kingdom for my first country assignment, contributing to the construction of the world’s largest nuclear power plant.
When I first arrived on the Hinkley Point C project, I was truly amazed by its massive scale, complexity, and a spectacular feat of engineering and construction.
My first month was incredibly tough, as the work procedures, regulations, and work styles were vastly different from what I was used to in my previous projects. Working with 13,000 people from diverse nationalities was also a significant challenge, requiring adaptability to navigate different cultures and perspectives.
Despite these adjustments and challenges, I’m deeply grateful to have an incredible team that supported and guided me every step of the way. Their expertise, experience, guidance, and encouragement have been invaluable, helping me navigate the complexities of the project.
Above all, I’m extremely proud to contribute to the construction of the world’s largest nuclear power plant. This project not only pushes the boundaries of engineering, construction, and technology but also is set to usher in a new generation of energy infrastructure for the United Kingdom.
As a Filipino Engineer specializing in Construction Safety, I am deeply grateful to the Bridges Programme for offering a transformative platform for both personal and professional development. This exceptional opportunity will allow me to contribute to the construction of the world’s largest nuclear power plant in the United Kingdom, expand my cultural and professional horizons, and establish valuable global connections.
