Australia to UK

A site engineer with experience in infrastructure construction works, I dreamed of working around the world. I am passionate about exploring innovative construction solutions through a diverse range of projects. I love music, food, traveling, and having a good time.

One step • January 2026

At work, I had the opportunity to work on a type of anchor that has not been used in the UK before, and the ground condition of the anchors is extremely unstable due to its close proximity to the sea or a river. Managing the work is challenging as new issues are raised daily due to the changing ground condition and working method was constantly modified accordingly. And on top of that, due to lack of experienced team member on this type of work, clear communication of tasks to all workers was challenging.

My first task, ground anchor trial, is now nearing completion, I’m glad that I joined Sizewell C and all the challenges have not only expanded my knowledge in ground engineering but also strengthened my leadership & communication skills. I’m excited to move from the anchor trial to the main work shortly, and looking forward to gaining field experience in the construction of diaphragm walls and more.

Although there is no culture shock to me during my relocation to the UK, it was mentally challenging to relocate my pet while I was trying to manage a 4-week relocation from London to Ipswich. Thankfully, HR (Ayla Hassan) has been extremely helpful and the relocation process went smoothly. Despite the remote work location, I was able to make time to explore the UK and Europe, making the most out of it while I’m half way across the world from home!
