Coming directly from th US, my first days in Hong Kong felt like stepping into a whole new world! I lived in the middle of the New Territories for the first month, away from the main Island and its bubbling multi-cultural scene. This allowed me to connect to the local culture, poles apart from the Miami lifestyle I had last year : different people, communication, habits, scenaries and food.

I then moved to Hong Kong Island, between the skyscrapers, the animated streets and dynamic people from all over the world. I love everything the city has to offer : amazing traditional temples, islands and beaches, beautiful hikes, remarkable buildings… and the best bars and restaurants!

After one year working in the Miami office in the tender team, I’m back on site on a heavy-rail line station project, built on top of the operating line.

In my free time I love to explore what Hong Kong has to offer : lovely beaches and hikes on beautiful islands when the weather’s fitting – or brunch and cultural visits otherwise. I really enjoy the local food and the many rooftops and skyline view bars. The nightlife here is amazing and I met incredible people too.

I joined at the early stage of the project, and the constrast between my last site experience on the big-scale HPC project in the UK, and this smaller technical project near the China border, is striking. The work culture is significantly different too: the interactions with the client (and hierarchy in general), the safety habits, the inclusion of third parties, a lot of subcontractors… This has been a really interesting experience to adapt to this new environment. I worked on the production of the excavation and lateral supports, which has been a great scope to tackle various subjects : method, safety, steel fabrication, quality, installation and follow-up of subcontractor, excavation plant, logistic… Now that the excavation is over and that we reached the tunnel box, I joined the structure team where I’m working on precast beams and slab elements. Such a great opportunity to discover new topics and to still work along the great team we have here on site!

Thanks to its location, it’s also easy to explore South East Asia from Hong Kong. To feed my wanderlust, I travelled to Thailand, Vietnam, China, Malaysia, Taiwan, Macau and the Philippines. I am so fortunate to be able to visit all those amazing places, and make unforgettable memories.
