The recent contract signing for the Lower Thames Crossing Project created a palpable sense of excitement and anticipation at Bytp Uk when I joined the team. From the very first week following the contract award, I was immersed in the dynamics of the project. The opportunity to work with a newly established team on a fresh project in a new country was exhilarating.

I quickly adapted to the fast-paced atmosphere, as I was tasked with delivering 10 deliverables within a challenging 4-week timeframe! Despite the demanding workload, my colleagues were exceptionally welcoming and supportive, fostering a collaborative environment. While London’s climate initially proved colder than I was accustomed to last year in Paris, I’ve since acclimated and now embrace the winter season.

My Bridges journey has taken me across diverse and challenging projects and roles. Starting as a System Safety Engineer on the Melbourne Metro Project, I honed my technical skills in ensuring the safety and reliability of complex rail systems. This experience laid the foundation for my subsequent role leading proposals in Paris at the home office, where I further developed my strategic thinking and technical writing abilities.

Currently, I am a Project Management Engineer on the Lower Thames Crossing Project, overseeing project delivery, reporting, and risk management. This client-facing position has significantly enhanced my contract knowledge, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

While this role presents various challenges, collaborating with my team to devise innovative solutions has been immensely rewarding. This progression has not only broadened my technical expertise but also sharpened my leadership and problem-solving capabilities in large-scale infrastructure projects.

During my time working abroad, I’ve committed myself to personal growth beyond the professional realm. A key focus has been maintaining to keep learning french. I’m appreciative of my French colleagues, who have shown patience and support as I navigate the nuances of their language! Each journey to France, be it for work or pleasure, brings a sense of achievement as I engage in increasingly fluent conversations, marking tangible progress in my linguistic journey.

To balance the technical demands of my work week, I’ve found solace and excitement in tennis. This sport not only provides an excellent physical outlet but also serves as a mental reset, helping me maintain focus and clarity of mind. Living in London, I have been able to play in a tennis tournament at the All England Club (Wimbledon) which has ticked a life bucket list.

Through participating in tournaments across Europe, I’ve had the privilege of exploring diverse cultures and forging friendships with fellows enthusiasts from around the globe. This combination of language learning and athletic pursuit has not only enhanced my work-life balance but also broadened my horizons, making my time abroad a truly enriching experience.
