When I landed in Hong Kong after spending a year in Australia, what amazed me at first was that this city never sleeps! Everything is open late. Hong kong is also very diversed and there is always something interesting to do. There is a good balance between the city and nearby nature getaways. To relax, you can easily go to the beach or go hiking.
On my second assignment, I continue to work on diaphraghm walls and to expand my experience. The pace in Hong Kong is different than in previous countries I lived in! I was able to adapt to the different procedures and processes without major difficulties on site. The construction methodology of D-walls in Hong Kong is slightly different from what we were doing in Melbourne last year, but I had the opportunity to meet very knowledgeable colleagues on this project and learn a lot from them.
I have to admit that I have less free time here in Hong Kong than in any previous country I worked in. However, as the city is always on motion, there is always things to do after work and during weekends.
What I enjoy most is going to the different beaches Hong Kong has to offer. There is also many travel destinations close by. My wife and I managed to visit Japan in May!
I also had the opportunity to reunite with a high school friend that I have known for almost 20 years. He’s been living in Hong Kong for 12 years and was our tour guide for the first few months.
